A little about the history of our Pre-school

Sandy Pre-school was created by the merger of Sandy Sunshine and Sandpiper

Pre-schools in 2002.

Sandy Sunshine was a well established Pre-school serving the local community in Sandy for 30+ years. It was first held at the Baptist Church before moving to what used to be St. Swithun’s Primary School by the town roundabout. Then it moved premises to Dapifer Block at Sandye Place Middle School where Sandy Pre-school continues to meet today.

Sandpiper Pre-school had been running in Sandy since 1977 where it held sessions at the Community hall behind the library until the merger in 2002.

We are a Committee run pre-school formed by a volunteer group of parents whose children are currently attending the pre-school. The Committee consists of six parents and three officers: Chairperson, Treasurer and Secretary. We meet every half term to discuss fundraising, policies, staffing, wages and ways in which we can continue to improve standards of the pre-school. We also keep a list of parents who would be willing to help out when needed for fundraising events etc., and a further list of parents who can cover in staff absence.
